Ladies...Choose Your Weapons!

I find menswear inspired collections desirable this season especially the military look.  Yes, I think men do have a great sense of style and designers are transforming what we once thought were only menswear  items into ladylike attire.  What I like is that I can look a bit tough, yet still feel sexy and feminine all at once.  I couldn't resist Burberry Prorsum's Collection.  The problem I have is choosing which jacket I want.  Bomber jackets, fitted coats, and blazers, are all so stylish!

Halloween Fashion Tim Burton Style

One of my all time favorite filmmakers, Tim Burton, creates Halloween fashion in a whole new way this October in Harper's Bazaar magazine.  Famous for his dark and quirky films, Tim, always seems to amaze me with his creative artwork.  I love that his magical characters come to life in film and in fashion.  Some of my favorite films directed by Tim are; Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissor Hands, and Beetle Juice.  Oh, and of course, Batman, who I hope to marry someday.

What will you be this Halloween???

Photographs by Tim Walker

Check out "The Art of Tim Burton" Standard Editon.  It is not available at bookstores or on Amazon.  If you would like to purchase his book of art containing 40 years of his work in film, go to http://www.steelespublishing.com/
Definitely worth $69.99

Julia Clancey Spring 2011

Julia Clancey presents "Sensually Sorbet" Spring/Summer 2011 collection at the Pali House in West Hollywood.  The runway was setup like a wonderland garden.  There were butterflies, sparkling teapots, flowers, lily pads, croquet balls and mallets.  The suggested attire for the invitees were garden party frocks for the ladies and striped blazers for the men.  I wore a teal dress that was close to a frock, but not quite one.  Out of the hundred dresses I own, why don't I own a frock?!  I was a bit skeptical about my dress right before walking into the reception, but forgot about it once I started drinking the complimentary sparkling wine :)...of course!  After a couple of hours enjoying the wine and mingling, we all transitioned to the rooftop for the show.

The collection consisted of pastel colors; cream, yellow, orange, lavender, and blue. The fabrics were flowy and designed with beads, jewels, and sequins. It was a beautiful collection that had a magical touch.  Below is a glimpse of Spring/Summer 2011 fabrics and colors.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

Newsboy caps, also known as the flat cap, date back to pre World War 1.
Traditionally worn by men and historically associated with the working class.  They were very popular in Europe and the US.  I came across these pictures and thought...if these caps could talk, they'd have a story to tell.

A strike occured in 1899 because publishers wouldn't buy back unsold papers.  These boys were making, at the most, 30 cents a day!!

Iceberg Fall 2010

It's Fall 2010 and newsboy caps are still trendy!  Iceberg's menswear collection is a great look for the season.  The best part of Fall fashion is that you can wear layer after layer of clothing.  Scarfs, vests, and jackets can give your overall look more depth compared to a simple look for the summer.  And to top off the entire look...wear a newsboy cap!

Good news is that these caps are for women to.  I own a few myself, one being a Kangol that was a gift to me when I was in San Diego,CA.  It fits perfectly and keeps my head nice and warm.  Plus, Kangols come in many different colors and fabrics.   Best fabrics for Fall are wool, tweed, leather, and suede.
